About the event

Most photographers are afraid of flash. This class fixes that. You will learn how flash and your camera work as two separate exposure systems — and how to take control of both. Starting with one light and a modifier, you will see firsthand how off camera flash can shape, flatter, and transform any portrait. No experience needed. Bring your camera and flash if you have them — gear will be available to work with either way.

Learning goals

  • Understand how flash exposure works independently from camera exposure

  • Get to know what a speedlite, a modifier, and a trigger do together

  • Control flash in manual mode — power, distance, and placement

  • Understand sync speed and why it matters
